Our Approach to Youth Sports

We believe that children should learn and enjoy a variety of sports. It will make them better athletes, less prone to injury and burnout, and more well-rounded individuals. Most importantly, sports should be a lot of fun so that your child will develop a lifelong habit of fitness.

Keep it Seasonal

Youth sports have become too serious and expensive. Clubs often seek to monopolize the time and dollars of families, even when such an approach is wrong for the children. As a foundational sport like gymnastics, wrestling helps kids develop skills that they can apply to other sports. Keeping it seasonal makes them better athletes longer term.

I think that, from the time that you’re five until you’re 14, you should be playing as many sports as you can. Learning to control your body is really important and obviously wrestling allows you to do that, probably to the highest degree because you have to not only control your body, but you have to control someone else’s body.

For Girls and Boys

Already an Olympic sport, women’s wrestling is now the fastest growing high school sport in the United States. It is also gaining the interest of colleges and universities who are adding programs at a rapid clip. The secret is out: girls love to wrestle and are awesome at it! The sport comes as naturally to girls as it does to boys.

But It’s Not for Everyone

Wrestling is really hard. It can also be painful. Not all children can handle the level of discomfort wrestling provides. Our goal is for your child to become passionate about wrestling and to wrestle again the next year. If your child decides not to return the next season, we hope, at the least, that he will have a lifelong respect for the sport. We understand that wrestling is not for everyone. If your child decides that wrestling is not for them, we’ll issue a full refund within the first two weeks.
