The goal of Lamorinda Wrestling Club is to help kids fall in love with the  sport of wrestling through a combination of technique, games, competition and friendship. Our focus is teaching the fundamentals of wrestling to children aged 6-14. While we will try to accommodate all children, preference will be given to returning wrestlers.

Nobody who ever gave his best regretted it.
— George Halas

Practices teach kids the fundamentals of wrestling, including attacking, defense, counter-offense, control and escapes.  Sessions consist of a mix of gymnastics and calisthenics, technique, drills and live wrestling. The focus will be on learning the fundamentals, having fun and sharing  the  values wrestling is well known for - hard work, humility,  self-confidence and respect.

Parents are welcome to observe practices but are not allowed onto the mats unless invited by an instructor. They are prohibited from cheering or coaching from the sidelines.

What to Bring

For practice, your child should wear shorts and a t-shirt: please no jeans, corduroys, sweaters or sweatshirts.

Please make sure your child has a bottle of water - there is no water fountain in the gym and your child will be very thirsty!

Please make sure your child has wrestling shoes. For hygiene purposes, your child should wear street shoes into the gym and then change into his/her wrestling shoes once in the gym.

You can purchase shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods, at Amazon or if you would like to support Olympic wrestling hopefuls, you can purchase shoes from Worldwide Supply or Asics.

If your child has braces, a mouth guard is recommended.
